Social & Support
Find out what’s happening to help with social issues & support for the community in Derry.
Men’s Support Group π
The Menβs Support Groups offer safe spaces for men with ages ranging from 17-80 to meet, chat, seek help or offer advice on menβs issues from a vast amount of knowledge and lived experience.
These free sessions are hosted on the below days at various locations.
ποΈ Mondays β° 7pm-8pm
π Upstairs in Wheelers, Strand Road
ποΈ Tuesdays β° 4pm-6pm
π The Back Alley Pool Hall, North Edward Street
ποΈ Thursdays β° 4pm-6pm
π Claude’s Cafe, Shipquay Street
ποΈ Fridays β° 4pm-6pm
π The Guild Cafe at The Guildhall
There is also a WhatsApp group where the guys keep in touch outside the above times. They have arranged nights out, walks, coffee meet-ups & a show in the millennium forum etc.
If anyone needs a chat or company we post it in the group to see if anyone is free and usually some of the guys are there to help straight away.
They try to help and support men who may be suffering with mental health issues, addiction, abuse, brain injuries, social isolation and anything else that is brought to the table.
The groups are informal and men can drop in and out as they wish. No one has to talk if they don’t want to, but they are there to help without any judgement if you do want to get something off your chest.
Some joined for help with issues, some come for camaraderie, to socialise, have a cuppa, a chat, a laugh or just get a couple of hours away from the stress and strains of everyday life.
